Synopsis:
In Satisfied: Why Getting What We Want is Not the Answer, Hadassah Treu shares about how she thought she knew what would make her happy: A loving marriage, motherhood, health, and a good future she carefully imagined. But instead, she was met with marital distance, infertility, panic attacks, painful medical treatments and the consequences of a decision she desperately wishes she could undo.
This book is a raw, honest testament about Hadassah’s deep personal journey through a marriage strained by grief, disappointment, and an intense longing for motherhood. When her prayers don’t bring the answers she expects, her faith is pushed to its limits. Navigating anger, forgiveness, and ultimate surrender, she is faced with a question she can no longer avoid: Is God still good when He doesn’t answer our prayers the way we want Him to? Through every heartache, prayer, and act of surrender, she uncovers this profound truth: Even our best and most innocent desires can accidentally replace the fulfillment only God can give.
When the life you wanted is not the life you receive, can you still discover that what you have is enough?
My Review
This is a must-read for anyone walking through grief, the loss of a dream, or a season where God seems silent. Hadassah shares her story and what she learned from walking through the deepest valleys and the art of true surrender to God.
This book really ministered to me and encouraged me to keep pressing into God even when I don’t understand His plan for a certain season in my life. By reading Hadassah’s story, I was encouraged to see that God does His work in the valleys of our lives. We are never alone. Hadassah quotes: “I was not alone and helpless. I was learning how to train my mind and shift my thoughts in the direction that would help me regain self-control and peace.”
I highly recommend this book to anybody who wants to draw nearer to God and understand that the valleys have a greater purpose in our lives.
